Blank Rome LLP Of Counsel James T. Giles, a former chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, received the Distinguished Advocate Award from the Support Center for Child Advocates in recognition of his extraordinary efforts and countless hours devoted to improving the lives of abused and neglected children.
Judge Giles was presented with the award at the Support Center for Child Advocates 2019 Annual Benefit Reception and Auction, held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia. Blank Rome was proud to be a sponsor of this event, which honored additional Distinguished Advocates as well as the winners of the Eddie Ohlbaum Distinguished Advocate for Children Award, which was presented to Blank Rome Partner Lawrence J. Forer Child Advocacy Award for his service to youth in underserved communities.
At Blank Rome, Judge Giles focuses his commercial litigation practice on alternative dispute resolution matters, assisting with trial and appellate briefings, advocacy, and strategies. He is also active in pro bono service and diversity and inclusion initiatives, both within the Firm and legal industry at large. In March 2019, Judge Giles was selected as Influencers of Law award recipient by The Philadelphia Inquirer, a recognition that honors Philadelphia’s leading lawyers who have “shaped, changed, and transformed the legal industry.”
