Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that of counsel Jennifer L. Carrier was presented with the firm’s annual Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award in recognition of her personal commitment to, and leadership in, pro bono work on behalf of Afghan refugees fleeing the Taliban. Named in honor of one of Blank Rome’s founding partners, the Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award was created in 2004 to recognize outstanding performance and a demonstrated commitment to pro bono legal service each year.
Jennifer devotes a significant amount of her practice to pro bono matters, including preparing Humanitarian Parole applications for Afghans seeking safe haven in America, supervising the Election Protection Hotline, and setting up a number of nonprofit organizations. Additionally, in 2015–2018 and 2020–2021, Jennifer was listed in Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll.
Jennifer has been instrumental in securing safe reunions for Afghan families. Notably, she worked to reunite a mother and three children with their husband and father; those children will have a chance to grow up free from Taliban oppression, without fear of persecution, and with all of the opportunities that life in America offers to them.
