Melanie S. Carter and Bridget Mayer Briggs Named to Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2021 Best of the Bar

Blank Rome partners Melanie S. Carter and Bridget Mayer Briggs have been named to the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2021 Best of the Bar, which honors 35 attorneys in the region who have “distinguished themselves in their practice specialties” over the past 12 months. The honorees were selected from more than 70 nominations, and were selected by a panel of distinguished judges.

Melanie and Bridget were honored in the categories of Business Litigation and Pro Bono, respectively, and will be individually profiled along with the rest of the 2021 Best of the Bar honorees in a special edition of the Philadelphia Business Journal on October 29, 2021. They will be presented with their awards on October 28, 2021, at an evening event hosted at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.

Melanie S. Carter

Melanie S. Carter concentrates her practice in complex commercial and corporate matters. She has experience counseling clients on a wide range of business issues, such as corporate litigation and business disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, and other business torts; real estate issues; constitutional litigation; energy litigation; multidistrict litigation; and mass tort litigation. She also regularly represents pharmaceutical companies in national state and federal products liability cases. Melanie began her legal career as a federal law clerk to the Honorable Joel H. Slomsky of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.


Bridget Mayer Briggs

Bridget Mayer Briggs concentrates her practice in corporate, white collar, government contracts, and class action defense litigation. She is an active member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and has achieved various pro bono successes on behalf of her clients, including securing Social Security disability benefits for clients with severe mental health disorders; obtaining expungement of the criminal records of the first person in Pennsylvania ever exonerated based upon DNA evidence; and helping indigent clients prepare wills and other important end-of-life documents, to name a few. She is a volunteer attorney for the Support Center for Child Advocates, the country’s oldest and largest pro bono legal and social services agency for children, and has received numerous awards and accolades for her pro bono service.
