Shadi Jahangir, Partner, Blank Rome
Breaking into the asset-based lending industry, navigating the sector’s intricacies and establishing herself amidst industry veterans initially seemed daunting for Shadi Jahangir.
However, she has since realized the importance of building a robust support network in dealing with these challenges. Through active participation in networking events, seeking out mentorship opportunities and fostering genuine connections, Jahangir has cultivated such a network of allies who champion her growth and development, leveraging their guidance to gain invaluable insights and support. By recognizing the power of collaboration and drawing on the expertise of her network, Jahangir has been able to navigate hurdles and carve out a successful path in the ABL industry.
“Fostering meaningful relationships is paramount. Mirlande Telfort, Partner, Blank Rome
Mirlande Telfort has played a pivotal role in the asset-based lending industry by structuring innovative legal strategies for complex lending transactions while navigating the intricacies of collateral and risk management. She provides clients with tailored legal solutions while empowering them with the knowledge to make informed decisions that optimize their financial position.
Telfort began her career as an associate with Cahill Gordon & Reindel in 2010. She spent four years with the firm before joining McGuireWoods as an associate and partner until 2022, when she joined Blank Rome as a partner, a role she’s had for nearly two years. In her role, she represents banks, private equity funds and other investors in debt financing and leveraged financing transactions across multiple industries, including healthcare, life sciences and manufacturing, among others.
As an attorney, Telfort advocates for ethical practices that foster trust and transparency between borrowers and lenders. In her line of work, she has had to learn how to manage heavy workloads, bias and the pressures of the legal practice. In order to overcome these challenges, she has had to cultivate resilience by learning to manage stress, develop a work-life balance, build a strong and supportive network, and demonstrate exceptional competence and knowledge.
