Joel Michel, Associate, Blank Rome
Practice Profile: Michel concentrates his practice on complex commercial, employment, and tort litigation matters in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies. He represents clients in litigation disputes arising from Title VII discrimination claims, various tort claims, and real estate disputes.
Leadership Activity: Michel is a member of the firm’s pro Bono committee. He was appointed in February 2020. He has also been a member of the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations since 2016.
Pro Bono and Civic Work: Michel is also very active in his community. He has served on the board and on the real estate and finance committees of Mount Airy CDC, a nonprofit for whom he provided counsel to help the organization fulfill its mission in four areas: housing counseling, real estate and infrastructure, business services, and community programs. For First Haitian Church of God, he serves on the board and helps oversee all church activities. Impressively, for Reach Out and Read, he is an organizer, and has assisted in raising $190,000 to provide books to children in North Philadelphia. He also is about to join the board of the Jefferson Center for Injury Research and Prevention.
