Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Mary Craig Calkins, a partner in the firm’s Insurance Recovery group, has been elected to serve on the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Council for a two-year term.
As a member of Council, which is the board overseeing the activities of the Section, Mary will focus on substantive and procedural developments in case law, proposed reforms and recommendations, and best practices for litigators. The Council's goal is to help members become more effective litigators, counselors, and leaders. Mary will also participate as part of the Council’s Finance Committee and Section Benefits for ABA members throughout the country.
Mary has been actively involved in the Section for more than 25 years. Most recently, Mary served as the Revenue Officer for four years. In this position, she oversaw the Section’s operational funding and revenue, and was responsible for policies, procedures, and sponsor relations. In addition, she assisted with the Section’s planning, budgeting, and fundraising efforts.
The Section of Litigation, one of the largest sections of the American Bar Association, provides litigators of all practice areas the resources needed to become successful and experienced advocates. The Section is a legal publisher, a provider of CLE programming, a source of news and analysis, and a strong national voice in discussions concerning the legal profession.
At Blank Rome, Mary handles and litigates all aspects of insurance recovery for policyholders in complex, high-value matters. She has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for companies and individuals under directors and officers liability, management liability, and professional errors and omissions policies through litigation, arbitration, and mediation, and facilitated settlement of some of the most complicated directors and officers liability issues in the country.
