Alex E. Hassid

Biography

Alex Hassid helps clients navigate complex, high-stakes litigation in federal and state courts and in arbitration. As a member of Blank Rome’s Business Litigation and Government Contracts practices, as well as its Aerospace, Defense, & Government Services industry group, Alex serves a diverse client base that includes large and small government contractors, public and private companies, foreign entities, partnerships and joint ventures, and individuals. With nearly 20 years of experience, Alex’s practice covers all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal. Above all, Alex looks for creative ways to help clients achieve their business objectives, whether through the litigation process or by avoiding it. In that regard, he routinely helps negotiate settlements for clients to resolve litigation or to prevent it entirely.

Some of the areas in which Alex assists clients include:

  • Government contracts-related disputes including False Claims Act defense, prime-subcontractor disputes both before and during litigation, and trade secret defense
  • Business disputes, including fraud-related claims, contract and quasi-contract claims, partnership disputes and business divorces, as well as other business torts
  • Prosecuting and defending legal malpractice claims

Outside of his core litigation practice, Alex is committed to providing pro bono legal services, having won Blank Rome pro bono awards in 2016, 2020, 2022, and 2023 for a variety of matters, including representation of a criminal defendant in federal appeal, submission of amicus briefs on behalf of social justice organizations, representing injured veterans seeking benefits, and supporting transgender individuals seeking name changes. Alex also serves as a member of the firm’s New York and Washington, D.C., office recruiting committees.

Previously, Alex served as an intern for the Honorable Eric T. Washington in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
