Biography
Justina Byers has more than 25 years of experience handling general commercial litigation matters, including in the specific areas of construction, life sciences, products liability, healthcare, insurance, and personal injury. Justina's experience includes counseling and defending clients in:
- Multi-district litigation (“MDL”)
- Mass tort litigation
- Products liability
- Catastrophic loss personal injury
Justina represents clients in a broad range of industry sectors, including pharmaceutical and life science companies, food and beverage companies, construction companies, and hospitality companies. Justina’s current representative matters include defending several major branded and generic drug manufacturers in class action and MDL litigations involving product liability claims related to the use of opioids and other medications.
Outside the Firm
Justina is a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America.
Experience
- A major pharmaceutical company, helped to successfully defeat class certification in an MDL action alleging product liability and conspiracy and defeating claims in various federal and state courts outside the MDL.
- A major national bank, helped to successfully defeat class certification in a consumer class action alleging RICO liability.
- An investment services firm, assisted in defeating unfair trade practice claims.
- A horseracing trade organization, won dismissal of Sherman Act and other claims.
- A restaurant charged with negligence and wrongful death, assisted in obtaining defense verdict.
