Biography
Timothy Dickens concentrates his on practice on privacy, data security, and risk management. He counsels organizations on matters relating to the development of domestic privacy laws, including those in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah. He also assists organizations with international privacy and data security obligations, including those established under the European Union and United Kingdom.
He handles a broad range of regulatory compliance and transactional matters, including responses to data subject requests, vendor processing and transfer agreements, and data governance and records retention programs. Tim has experience working with organizations that include a range of financial institutions, large scale online platforms managing user generated content, and non-profit entities.
Prior to joining the firm, Tim worked at a national law firm handling privacy and risk management matters. He also has experience working with the legal and compliance teams of an international Fortune 500 company, where he helped develop and implement privacy and data security procedures and implement incident prevention and response procedures.
Additionally, Tim worked as a consultant conducting gap assessments for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) and the European Union’s General Data Privacy Regulation (“GDPR”). Finally, Tim also worked as a researcher for the publications team of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (“IAPP”).
Tim is accredited by the IAPP as a Certified Information Privacy Professional in the United States, European Union, and Asia Pacific Region.
