Stephen McSweeney has built his family law practice by providing straight-forward assessments of situations and advice to benefit his clients. For more than 25 years, he has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law, advising and working with clients on complicated divorce, custody, support and equitable distribution matters. Stephen litigates matters on the trial and appellate levels, and also works with clients to negotiate settlement agreements outside of court.
As a part of his practice, Stephen also counsels his clients on pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, and separation agreements. His focus is on securing valuable and important client objectives in the most sensitive, effective, and cost-efficient way possible.

Stephen has lectured on the topic of discovery of hidden assets in a divorce action as a presenter at the Association of Divorce Financial Planners, an interdisciplinary association of divorce professionals with a professional interest in divorce financial planning. Stephen was recently appointed by the Chief Administrative Judge of the New York State Unified Court System to be a member of the Matrimonial Practice Advisory and Rules Committee.
